Who are Neath Athletic RFC?

Neath Athletic RFC was formed in 1947. Its formation was inspired by Rees Stephens, a Neath, Wales and British Lions legend, to address the gap between school rugby and first class rugby. The idea gained traction in a 1947 newspaper article, and a youth team was eventually formed in Neath.

Early efforts focused on building a youth structure, but over time  a first team was eventually  formed. The club has a long-standing history of developing young players, with a strong emphasis on community involvement and youth rugby.

Since those early days of Youth Rugby (Colts), Neath Athletic RFC has gone from strength to strength, producing numerous Internationals, Regional and First class rugby players.

As a club we now offer Rugby for all ages from Under 6s (Nippers) up to Under 16s, Youth Rugby , Senior Rugby, 2nd Team Rugby, Women’s Rugby, Walking Rugby and Veteran Tag rugby

Neath Athletic RFC supports Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) and we believe that a team sport is very important to encourage both fitness, group participation and the opportunity to make friends and encourage social interaction for children and adults of all ages.

Team sports are the very foundation for providing children with the social skills needed in later life. It encourages working together, team spirit, communication, hard work and helps children to achieve goals, encourages compassion, playing fair, and create a sense of belonging.

Membership of the Neath Athletic RFC is open to anyone interested in the sport regardless of age, disability, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, religion or other beliefs. The Club has adopted an Equal Opportunities Policy outlining this commitment
